MEDIA RELEASE
16-10-07
Exercises under the cover of
night, tactical response planning sessions and sweeps for bugs
and insects are all included on the programme for a not-so-secret
Survival Skills Training Camp being held deep in the Kaimai Ranges
above Tauranga this weekend.
Organised by a little known group called the South Pacific Christian
Anarchists, the event is being promoted on activist websites
and in newspaper advertisements across the country.
Publicity material for the event says the camp is for anyone
interested in 'monitoring state suppression of terrorism', surviving
home invasions by agents of the state and 'how to maintain independent
ideas in a free society'.
It is understood a group from the Gisborne region is planning
to attend the event and are hoping that they will not be harassed
while passing through Taneatua on the way to the event.
Organisers, who plan to wear disguises of clown costumes at the
rendezvous point before the event, say their express intention
is to ridicule the abuse of power by Police monitoring of communication
and raids on fellow activists. The event is also a serious time
to show solidarity and share updates on the situation for those
'arrested, detained or disappeared', to contribute to a legal
defence fund and to train one another in how to survive dawn
raids and the abuse of power by government forces.
